Using The Bowen Technique to Relieve Asthma
Asthma and The Bowen.Whatever the level of Asthma, or similar respiratory problems like Hay Fever, Allergic Rhinitis, or Sinus Pain, the Bowen Technique often seems to reduce the level of attacks, quickly and effectively.
As Bowen is both very gentle and non invasive, there is no danger in using it with asthma and other respiratory medications.
The many cases I have treated have shown that these techniques work, and do last, treatment in just a few sessions makes a marked difference.
How does it work with Asthma.The key to an asthma attack is the diaphragm. This contracts normally when breathing in and then relaxes to allow expiration. With an asthma condition, the diaphragm may be partly in contraction, hence the wheeze of an asthmatic. If a trigger, such as cold or illness, or an allergy is detected, the diaphragm seems to contract more and more thus allowing the asthmatic to breathe in, but not to breathe out.
The Bowen asthma technique persuades the muscles, especially the diaphragm, to relax more and more.
Asthma and Allergy.Asthma attacks can be triggered by many things:- a cold or illness, some foods and pesticides and environmental toxins, animal hair, smoking, anxiety and other allergens.
At the Bowen Clinic we also carry out Food Sensitivity and Allergy Tests to help control the frequency of attacks.
Food Intolerance and Allergy Testing.Food intolerances occur when we have consumed the same foods on a regular basis
for many years, causing the body and immune system to malfuction.
This can cause a multitude of problems which take many years to develop and can include:-

- Asthma and breathing problems

- Flatulence
- Fatigue

Your first step to eliminating these problems is to have a Food Intolerance/Allergy Test.
We use Kinesiology (muscle Testing) to detect what it is you are sensitive to.
After identifing the food sensitivities, we then design a Nutritional eating plan for you, which you follow for a month. At your follow-up visit, a month later, we retest and check your tolerance levels, and test for any Vitamin/Mineral deficiencies. By this time you should be feling much better.
If you have a long term Allergy problem, we also check your tolerance to additives, but with long term allergies food may not be at the root of the problem.
We will then test for Pollens, Chemicals, Bacterias, Virus, Heavy metals, Cosmetics, etc.....
We use Homeopathic densensitisation and Kinesiology to help eradicate the problem.
What about Medication.?Most Asthma sufferers are concerned about the use of steroids, and do not want to remain on them for life. Children and adults respond quickly to the Bowen treatment, medication has often been reduced quite quickly after treatment, but it is important to realise that the medication has been prescribed to prevent a life threatening situation. We always advise that reduction in medication is under the guidance of your GP.
